Greetings Colleagues!

The words "good" and "great" fail to adequately describe the extraordinary history making events that took place last week within the soon-to-be world famous Coachella Valley Unified School District! Thank you all for your continued hard work and support of all CVUSD students from Pre-School Through Adult School!!!

District Ground Breaking for New Education Community Support Complex!

On Tuesday, October 23rd, nearly 100 community and staff members joined local elected officials and CVUSD dignitaries in a ceremonial ground breaking of the new CVUSD District Education Community Support Complex.  The purpose and design of the Complex has taken into careful consideration the educational and varied needs that CVUSD provides our students and families and the community at large.  I would like to personally thank the tremendous efforts of Elsa Esqueda, Mari Tarango, Anita Meraz, Marcela Valdez and all those who contributed greatly in making this event an overwhelming success!

State Superintendent Tom Torlakson Visits CVUSD and Enthusiastically Endorses Measure X!

Few California School Districts have the opportunity to host the State Superintendent of Public Instruction!  An even smaller number of school districts are privileged enough to secure his personal endorsement of their bond initiative!  This past Thursday, the Coachella Valley Unified School District and our Bond Initiative Measure X enjoyed both!

Superintendent Torlakson,  a former science teacher himself, visited Cahuilla Desert Academy where he witnessed the use of iPad Technology in five science classrooms!  Following the tour, Superintendent Torlakson held a press conference where he whole-heartedly and enthusiastically endorsed Measure X!!!

Superintendent Torlakson commented that CVUSD is leading the way in transforming education from an old industrial model of education to one which is based upon 21 Century Teaching and Learning modalities that incorporate the use of educational technology!

This impressive event could not have been successful without the assistance of Principal Becerra, Tina Garcia, Amalia De Lara, Mari Tarango, Anita Meraz, our CVUSD Grounds crew, CDA custodial staff, my Executive Cabinet and those wonderful Science CDA Science Teachers Mr. Ham, Mr. Sharpe, Mrs. Espinoza, Mr. Williams, Mrs. Guzman-Ceja and Mr. Richardson who all impressed the State Superintendent with the use of iPad technology in their classrooms!

Item #3

Greetings Colleagues,

Our CVUSD administrators and teachers have been showed up big time for phone banking information sessions as the information we provide our local voters on Measure X, the CVUSD Mobile Learning Initiative, from now until election day is critically important.

Some  of you have not had a chance to participate in a phone banking shift yet but now we bring new three opportunities over the final week before Nov. 6th.

We are coming together Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the DACE center for our last week of informational calls.  Your individual efforts matter as what our district employees do collectively during the next 8 days is incredibly important!

So if you can sign up for one or more shifts, please do so. The students and parents of CVUSD sincerely appreciate you and thank you!

What:  Measure X Informational calls
Where: At the DACE Center
When:  4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Hope to see you there, let's finish strong CVUSD!
